Drive West and take Highway 380 to Highway 30 to the Ma`alaea Harbor.

Make a left at the stop light and enter the Aquarium parking.

From Lahaina or Ka`anapali:

Take Highway 30 South for about 30 minutes. We are approximately 5 minutes after the tunnel on the ocean side. Take a right into the Aquarium parking lot.

From Wailea:

Drive North on Highway 31 to Highway 310, then make a left onto Highway 30. Take a left at the stop light in Ma`alaea and enter the Aquarium parking lot.

From Kihei:

Drive North to Highway 310 to Highway 30 and make a left at the stop light to enter into the Aquarium parking lot.

We have a great variety of tropical reef fish, octopus, moray eels, green sea turtles, sharks, stingrays, sea jellies, and much, much more! All of the animals at Maui Ocean Center are found in Hawaiian waters, with approximately 25% being endemic meaning you can’t see them anywhere else in the world!

The average visit to Maui Ocean Center lasts about 2 hours. Plan to stay longer if you wish to enjoy lunch at the Seascape Ma‘alaea Restaurant or Reef Café, or spend time browsing through the amazing collection of retail items at the Maui Ocean Treasures gift shop. Items from the gift shop are also available online.

Maui Ocean Center is open 9am-5pm daily with final admission at 4:30pm. Please be aware that all buildings will close promptly at 5pm. Please allot yourself enough time to view exhibits and presentations at your own pace. An average visit to Maui Ocean Center lasts about 2 hours.

Approximately 75% of the Aquarium exhibits are indoors and air conditioned, making it the perfect attraction for anyone, anytime! Located in Ma‘alaea Harbor, the Aquarium also provides spectacular ocean views.

Maui Ocean Center displays the animals in our care in realistic, natural environments and the animals are fed according to their needs therefore feedings and shows are not offered. To enhance your experience, trained Marine Naturalists share their insight and education during presentations at various locations throughout the Aquarium and are happy to answer any question you may have.

Animals are fed according to their natural behaviors and needs therefore feedings and shows are not offered. Maui Ocean Center’s Curatorial team conducts a broadcast feed to animals on exhibit using a variety of seafood (including, chopped fish, mussels, and squid). Some fish, depending on their species, prefer fish gel (gelatin mixed with spirulina, garlic, broccoli, carrots, and cucumbers), algae, and romaine lettuce. The occasional spot feeding to certain species, such as the moray eels and frogfish, are conducted to ensure proper nutrition.

General Aquarium admission is self-guided at your own pace. Public tour upgrades are offered and can be booked online or phone by calling 808-270-7012. Private tours are also available and need to be arranged at least 3 days in advance. Click here to learn more about tours. Audio Guide Tours are also available for a fee of $3.00 per audio guide, or for $8.00 for a family pack (3-6 audio guides).

Wheelchairs are available on a first come, first served basis. Maui Ocean Center is ADA compliant. Strollers are currently not available.

Yes, your admission is good for the whole day, simply show your receipt at the Front Gate to re-enter. You may also purchase a 1-Week Journey Pass for only a few more dollars (with same day paid receipt), which is good for seven consecutive days from the day of purchase.

Yes, they are available at the Front Gate. It’s like having your own personal tour guide with you and we highly recommend them. You may pre-purchase them online with your admission tickets. Audio guides are $3.00 for a single unit or $8.00 for 3-6 units and are available in English. Additional languages coming soon.

Yes, shirt and shoes are required at all times and all clothing appropriate for a family environment.

In accordance with Hawai‘i state law, Maui Ocean Center is a smoke-free facility. With your admission receipt, you can exit the Front Gate and smoke outside of the facility, at least 30ft from any windows or doors, and return to the Aquarium.

Leashed service animals only are allowed.

For your safety, absolutely no outside food or beverage (of any type) are allowed at Maui Ocean Center. No coolers allowed. Exceptions can be made for infants and school groups (with prior approval) and those with special medical needs; see a Front Gate attendant. Please no chewing gum.

Photography and video is permitted throughout the park for personal enjoyment only. To obtain permission for a photo shoot or to film for commercial purposes please contact the Public Relations Department. Unauthorized resale of photo images taken within Maui Ocean Center will be subject to legal action.

*Tip: If using flash, shoot at a 45-degree angle to the glass to avoid reflection. Some exhibits may indicate that flash is not allowed.

Gift certificates are available for Aquarium admission, Seascape Ma‘alaea Restaurant, Maui Ocean Treasure gift shop, and Shark Dive Maui®. Gift certificate purchases can be made at the Aquarium’s front gate or via phone by calling 808-270-7000.

Group rates are available for parties of 20 people or more and can be for Aquarium admission or for Aquarium admission with lunch. Group rates must be booked in advance. Click here for details.
