NEW AQUARIST, MARKETING STAFF HIRED AT MAUI OCEAN CENTER

August 23, 2022

Maui Ocean Center’s staff continues to grow, with a variety of new positions filled this month. Here’s a look at who has recently joined the team at the Aquarium of Hawaiʻi:

Hannah Powless

Hannah is Maui Ocean Center’s new Aquarist. She’s part of the team responsible for the food and welfare of the animals in the Center’s temporary care. At Maui Ocean Center, animals are considered “Ocean Ambassadors,” as the aquarium doesn’t own them. The animals are simply “representing their species” and helping to educate the public. Powless arrives at Maui Ocean Center after working as a Naturalist for PacWhale Eco-Adventures in Lahaina for the past year. She holds a degree in Natural Resource Conservation from the University of Florida, where she also served as an undergraduate research assistant.

Mike Morris

Mike is the new Communications Specialist, helping tell Maui Ocean Center’s remarkable story through content writing and various social media platforms. By visiting www.mauioceancenter.com and following Maui Ocean Center on social media, including Facebook and Instagram, the public can stay current on all the latest news at the aquarium. Morris has worked in the journalism industry for the past 20 years, including writing numerous travel-related articles for the Los Angeles Times. He has also created social media content for various industries in both California and Hawaiʻi.

Ryan Corbett

Ryan is joining Maui Ocean Center’s marketing department as the new Sales and Marketing Coordinator. His focus will be on sales coordination and client support services. It’s recommended that those visiting the aquarium continue to purchase their tickets online. Corbett’s diverse experience includes the marketing and technology sectors.
