Most visitors coming to Maui are staying in West Maui (Ka’anapali, Lāhainā, Kapalua, and Napili) or South Maui (Wailea, Kihei, and Makena). The Maui Ocean Center is nestled in a cove smack in the middle of both!
Located in Wailuku, Maui, the Maui Ocean Center is accessible by bus or car.
BUS: If you’re coming by bus, make sure to time your route and check the bus schedule. Buses don’t run that frequently.
If you’re coming from the West side you can take bus #28 to bus #20.
Get off at Māʻalaea Harbor Village and walk .3 miles or about 5 minutes.
If you’re coming from the South side you can take bus #10 to bus #15. Get off at Māʻalaea Harbor Village and walk .3 miles or about 5 minutes.
Depending on the route it will be anywhere from 20-30 minutes and around $4.00 in bus fares.
Here is a link to an updated look at the bus routes & map.
CAR: Car is the fastest and most convenient way to get here. It’s about 20 minutes from the South side and 30 minutes from the West side. Uber and Lyft conveniently operate in Maui and will get you there seamlessly.
If you drive yourself please make sure to account for paid parking. We do not own the parking lot in front of the Maui Ocean Center and have no control over ticketing. Parking is $3 per hour and can be paid via phone once you arrive at Maui Ocean Center
There is ample parking in front of the Maui Ocean Center. Be sure to pay for parking prior to entering the park! The parking lot is owned by Parklinq and parking fees support Ma`ālaea’s conservation initiatives.
Upon arrival, park in the parking lot immediately in front of Maui Ocean Center. From there, scan the QR code on the nearest paid parking sign with your smartphone and follow the prompts on your device to proceed to payment.
The parking lot is managed by an independent company, therefore payment must be made via the parking signage QR code, and not at the Maui Ocean Center front gate.
Parklinq will ask for your preferred length of parking time, contact information (name, email address, and mobile number), and your license plate number and credit card information. After completing your payment, a text message will be sent as confirmation. 15 minutes prior to time expiration, a text reminder asking if you wish to extend your parking time will be sent. If you do not have a smartphone, you may reach Parklinq’s Customer Service at 808.517.5017.
