May 8, 2025, MĀʻALAEA, MAUI, HI – Maui Ocean Center will host Camp Kainani, a new summer day camp for children ages 7 to 14, during four sessions in June and July.
Marine naturalists will lead activities including interactive coral feedings, making shark tooth necklaces and learning about echinoderms. Each camper receives a Camp Kainani T-shirt.
“By turning the renovated Makai Theater into a learning space, we aim to create a fun, educational environment that fosters environmental stewardship,” said Tiara Fernandez, the aquarium’s education director. “We’re launching this summer day camp for keiki to inspire the next generation to care for the ocean and protect marine life.”
Campers are divided into Papio (ages 7-10) and Ulua (ages 11-14). The four-day camp will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays. Papio have camp from June 17-20 and July 22-25, while Ulua will be held June 10-13 and July 15-18.
