QUEEN KA‘AHUMANU CENTER PARTNERS WITH MAUI OCEAN CENTER TO PROVIDE OCEAN EDUCATION FOR KEIKI

Kahului, Maui, HI, February 9, 2022 –Queen Kaʻahumanu Center and Maui Ocean Center are joining forces to educate Maui’s keiki about Hawai‘i’s native and endemic marine life. The Maui Ocean Center’s  Ocean Aloha series will be making its Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center debut during Keiki Club on the 3rd Saturday of each month through the summer.

Global conservation and sustainability are paramount to a flourishing underwater world, and it’s important for Maui’s youth to get involved at an early age,” said Maui Ocean Center’s Chief Marketing Officer, Toni Rojas. “Our hope is that through sharing the wonder of the ocean and its many incredible creatures, the children who cherish the ocean as their playground will eventually grow to be stewards of the sea themselves.

Kicking off Saturday, February 19 between 10:00 – 11:00 am, a marine naturalist from Maui Ocean Center will engage junior (4-12 years old) ocean enthusiasts through entertaining and hands-on activities at Queen Kaʻahumanu Center’s Play Area. Topics will focus on marine animals, including humpback whales, Hawaiian green sea turtles, sharks, and more. In addition to keiki-friendly marine conservation and sustainability information, attendees will have the opportunity to win giveaways like General Admission tickets to Maui Ocean Center and retailer gift cards!

Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center has been a Maui tradition for many generations, and as such, we’ve always been focused on creating meaningful experiences for our guests,” said general manager Kauwela Bisquera. “As we commemorate our 50th Anniversary this year, we recognize partnering with Maui Ocean Center, who is rooted in values of conservation, education, curiosity, and sustainability, as essential to the creation of lifelong stewards who will ensure the protection of some of our island’s most precious resources.
