Position Summary

Maui Ocean Center is seeking a charismatic, ocean-passionate individual to join our Marine Naturalist team. Naturalists engage with guests through educational presentations, tours, and activities, while promoting our mission to foster wonder, understanding, and respect for Hawai‘i’s marine life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead tours, programs, and presentations
  • Greet and assist guests, answer questions
  • Support educational efforts and daily operations
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of marine life and Hawaiian culture
  • Provide excellent customer service and resolve guest concerns
  • Lead school field trips and day camp programs

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in marine biology, environmental science, education, OR 2+ years’ experience in marine science, education, or related fields
  • Strong public speaking and interpersonal skills
  • Availability for varied shifts (weekends, holidays, evenings, overnights)
  • Must be 18+ and authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Pre-employment background check and drug testing required

Work Environment:

  • Active, guest-facing role requiring standing, walking, and occasional lifting/setup of materials
  • Communicating with guests and colleagues throughout the day
