Thursday, September 27, 2018, MA‘ALAEA, MAUI, HI – Maui Ocean Center, The Aquarium of Hawaii has recently been named among the “Top 10 Aquariums in the World” by TripAdvisor 2018 Travelers’ Choice, an annual award that highlights the top travel destinations and companies around the world.
Maui Ocean Center ranked eighth on the prestigious list joined by other U.S. aquariums including the Georgia Aquarium, Monterey Bay Aquarium, and Tennessee Aquarium. The rankings are derived from an algorithm that examines both the quantity and quality of TripAdvisor reviews. Approximately 85% of reviewers scored Maui Ocean Center with a 4 or 5-star rating.
“Maui Ocean Center is honored to have been named one of the Top 10 Aquariums in the World by TripAdvisor,” said Tapani Vuori, General Manager, “We appreciate every individual traveler who visited Maui Ocean Center and rated their experience. The overwhelmingly positive feedback speaks volumes to the passion and dedication of our team, a group of individuals who truly deserves the recognition for this monumental achievement. For the past 20 years, they are the ones who connect our Mission and Vision with each and every guest in a way that creates memorable experiences while fostering a sense of wonder and respect for Hawaii’s marine life.”
Maui Ocean Center exhibits only marine animals found in Hawaiian waters while perpetuating the relationship between the Hawaiian culture and the sea. It features one of the world’s largest displays of live Pacific corals and an immersive, 750,000-gallon Open Ocean exhibit, both of which are highlighted regularly in guest reviews. Other experiences, such as the Behind-the-Scenes Tour and Shark Dive Maui, contribute to high-level ratings.
Maui Ocean Center’s distinction as a world-class Aquarium is the latest TripAdvisor honor bestowed upon Maui Ocean Center. In recent years, TripAdvisor also named Maui Ocean Center among the “Top 25 Best Aquariums in the U.S.”, “15 Top Aquariums In The USA You Need To Experience”, and inducted into the “TripAdvisor Hall of Fame”.
